The restaurant will feature wood-fired Southern cuisine, including barbecue and seafood. If you are not familiar with <strong>Gilbert<\/strong>, he is known for being a fan favorite on season seven of <strong>Bravo&#8217;s &#8220;Top Chef.&#8221;<\/strong> He was a winner on the <strong>Food Network&#8217;s &#8220;Beat Bobby Flay&#8221;<\/strong> and has judged <strong>&#8220;Chopped Junior.&#8221;<\/strong> In addition to cooking at the G8 summit, <strong>Gilbert<\/strong> also prepares <strong>Oprah Winfrey&#8217;s<\/strong> personal holiday meals each year. <a href=\"https:\/\/cutandgather.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Start getting familiar with Cut &amp; Gather here<\/a>.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Today is the day! <strong>Friday, November 1<\/strong> marks the opening of the much anticipated <strong>k\u014d\u2022\u00e4n<\/strong> in the former <strong>An<\/strong> space in Cary. <strong>Sean Degnan<\/strong>, chef <strong>Drew Smith<\/strong> and their team are opening the beautiful space today at 2800 Renaissance Park Place. <strong>Smith\u2019s<\/strong> menu and vision for <strong>k\u014d\u2022\u00e4n<\/strong> includes an array of small plates meant for sharing like Lobster Gyoza, Steamed Buns and Duck Larb, along with large plates like Singapore Chicken Rice and Yakisoba. Expect to find inventive bowls on the menu as well like the k\u014d\u2022\u00e4n Ramen and Vietnamese Pho with Wagyu Beef Short Rib. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.koancary.com\/\">Visit them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A quick update on the next location of <strong>Showmars<\/strong> coming to the Triangle (there is already one in Wake Forest). We got word this week that the grand opening is set for <strong>Saturday, November 9th<\/strong> and it will be in Durham\u2019s <strong>The Corners at Brier Creek<\/strong> out off Glenwood Avenue in the same shopping center as Harris Teeter. Founded in Charlotte in 1982, <strong>Showmars<\/strong> serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and their menu features a diverse mix of Greek, Southern and American dishes with signature items including gyros, pita burgers and fresh salads. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/showmars.com\/\">Familiarize yourself with them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Got word this week from <strong>Jan Delory<\/strong> that <strong>Preeti Waas<\/strong>, who owns <strong>Sugar and Spice Kitchen<\/strong>, is opening up a concept called<strong> Cheeni<\/strong> in the lobby of the Y building on Fayetteville St where <strong>Brew<\/strong> used to be. She will be serving up coffee, chai and tiffin (a light snack or lunch in India) along with offering superfood smoothies and acai bowls by <strong>Frameworks Juice Kitchen<\/strong>. They are having a soft opening <strong>THIS Sat. Nov 2nd<\/strong>. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/cheeniraleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with her on Instagram here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Heard from reader <strong>Keri Owen<\/strong> that a Cuban restaurant and rum bar called <strong>Rumba Cubana<\/strong> is taking over the former <strong>Lost Cajun<\/strong> building in Wake Forest. This is being headed up by <strong>Randy Hernandez<\/strong> who you may know from <strong>Red Monkey Latin Fusion Kitchen<\/strong>. <strong>Rumba\u2019s<\/strong> goal is to bring Miami-style Cuban food, drinks, breakfast and nightlife with a fun and exciting experience. No word on an open date. In the meantime, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redmonkeylatinfusionkitchen.com\/\">visit Red Monkey here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The folks over at <strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> reported that <strong>The Flying Mayan<\/strong> plans to open in December at 319 Fayetteville Street in the former <strong>Wahlburger\u2019s<\/strong> space. Billing itself as a place where \u201cthe Southwest meets the Southeast,\u201d <strong>The Flying Mayan<\/strong> specializes in \u201cfresh, made from scratch sauces, salsas, and menu items that have their roots in both regions.\u201d It is being developed by the same team behind the <strong>Flying Burrito<\/strong>, located on Grove Barton Road. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/flyingmayan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get familiar with them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Cary, got word from reader <strong>Bill Striegel<\/strong> that <strong>Amberly Local<\/strong> at 718 Slash Pine Dr. opened last Friday. They feature 24 craft beer taps, wine by the glass and a deli kitchen turning out what looks to be some pretty delicious sandwiches, salads and things like cheese and meat boards. Kid friendly! <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amberlylocal\/\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Down in Holly Springs got word from <strong>Chris Creighton<\/strong> that a third location of <strong>Manhattan Pizza<\/strong> is coming to the shopping center at 4200 Lassiter Road (same shopping center as <strong>The Butcher\u2019s Market<\/strong>). They also have two locations in Raleigh. No word on an open date. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattanpizza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And finally, a huge kudos to the boys over at <strong>Manhattan Cafe<\/strong> in downtown Raleigh. They are located at 320 S Wilmington St. If you\u2019ve never been before, don\u2019t deprive yourself anymore and get by next week to try their goodies for just $5. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/manhattancafenc.com\/\">Visit them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> shared this week that a new rooftop restaurant is in the works for downtown Durham, coming from the owners of <strong>Gonza Tacos y Tequila<\/strong>. <strong>Macondo Latin Cuisine<\/strong>, the second concept from <strong>Gonza<\/strong> owners <strong>Gonza Salamanca <\/strong>and<strong> Carlos Rodriguez<\/strong>, will open in the new <strong>Longfellow<\/strong> Real Estate high-rise in downtown Durham. This follows on the footsteps of an earlier announcement that they will also open one in Raleigh in the <strong>Sojourn Glenwood Place Apartments<\/strong>, just inside the Raleigh Beltline. The Raleigh <strong>Macondo<\/strong> will open early next year. The Durham location should open in late 2020. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MacondoNC\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with their progress on their Facebook page here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Down in Chatham County, <strong>Neha Shah<\/strong>, director of the county\u2019s visitors bureau, shared with me some exciting news coming to <strong>Chatham Park<\/strong>. <strong>Shah<\/strong> shared that <strong>David Sandeghi<\/strong> will be bringing his <strong>Town Hall Burger &amp; Beer<\/strong> and his <strong>People&#8217;s Coffee<\/strong> to the <strong>Mosaic at Chatham Park<\/strong>. Additionally, she shared that <strong>Jen Kremer<\/strong>, who owns bagel shops in Philadelphia, will be opening <strong>Everything Bagels<\/strong> in <strong>Mosaic Park<\/strong> as well. Additionally, <strong>Kremer<\/strong> will have a location in the <strong>Durham Food Hall<\/strong>. The 4,000 square-foot facility with a 1,300 square-foot patio in Durham\u2019s <strong>Lakewood neighborhood<\/strong> features six food truck landing pads and a beer garden with outdoor seating. Too early to speculate, but that is a bit exciting. Stay tuned.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And finally, last Friday we broke the news that the <strong>Yellow House Tacos<\/strong>, a proposed joint venture between the folks at <strong>IPIII<\/strong> and <strong>Al\u2019s Burger<\/strong>, is no longer on the drawing board. That\u2019s the bad news. The good news is we still get to enjoy the great pie at<strong> IPIII<\/strong> and burgers at <strong>Al\u2019s<\/strong>. So life is not all bad!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Closings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We shared the news last Friday (with tips from a half-dozen readers or so) that the <strong>Mellow Mushroom<\/strong> on Chapel Hill\u2019s Franklin Street will close this Sunday, November 3.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For those down in Fuquay-Varina, you\u2019ll be sad to learn the news that <strong>Chris Creighton<\/strong> shared with us that the <strong>One Stop Market<\/strong> at the Citgo gas station at 101 Dickins Road has closed. However, rumors are that a Mexican restaurant is going in its place.
