This effort will consolidate funds collected through the <strong>Triangle Restaurant Workers Relief Fund<\/strong>. &nbsp;Tens of thousands of restaurant and hotel employees are now facing significant financial hardships as businesses curtail services in efforts to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. &nbsp;&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncrestaurantrelief.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Donate here if you can!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Other Things You Can Do<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Order takeout!<\/strong> You love their food (and you are tired of cooking) &#8211; just swing by and pick it up! Here are some handy links with restaurants and caterers that are offering no-contact curbside pick-up and\/or delivery:\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRAL<\/strong> has a tremendous Triangle-wide list going. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/Triangle-restaurants-offering-catering-delivery-and-take-out\/19016220\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check it out here<\/a>.<br><br>In Chapel Hill\/Carrboro, the most comprehensive list <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.orangecountync.gov\/1710\/Visitors-Bureau\" target=\"_blank\">is offered here<\/a> and compiled by the <strong>Chapel Hill\/Orange County Visitors Bureau<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Durham,<strong> Discover Durham<\/strong> has <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverdurham.com\/blog\/durham-food-delivery\/\" target=\"_blank\">a fantastic list here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong> Downtown Raleigh Alliance<\/strong> has <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.downtownraleigh.org\/covid-19\/resources\/takeout\" target=\"_blank\">a great downtown Raleigh list here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And over in Hillsborough, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hillsboroughnc.gov\/community\/covid-19-coronavirus\/restaurants-open-takeout-and-delivery\/\" target=\"_blank\">here is a great list<\/a> compiled by the<strong> Town of Hillsborough<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if you are down in Chatham County, the <strong>Pittsboro-Siler City Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau<\/strong> has an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/visitpittsboro.com\/social-media-lounge\/\" target=\"_blank\">updated list here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally, because this is such a fast moving and changing environment, please follow your favorite local restaurants on their <strong>social media platforms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And don&#8217;t forget to<strong> buy gift cards<\/strong> that you can use later! Help them over the short-term hump. This is not the perfect solution, but cash (flow) is king right now. Even better, go ahead and <strong>get ALL your holiday shopping done NOW!<\/strong> Who doesn&#8217;t love a restaurant gift card as a gift? That&#8217;s a win, win, win! This effort will both nourish the bodies and souls of physicians, nurses and other healthcare heroes and boost local economies during a time of acute need. They will initially focus on communities where the virus is hitting hardest, activating the program in other communities across the state as community interest and resources allow. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncha.org\/feedthesoul\/\">Donate here<\/a>. &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hope For Hospitality<\/strong> This is an initiative spearheaded by <strong>G. Patel<\/strong> and other friends in the hospitality industry to provide free meals for Raleigh area hospitality workers during the tough times brought by COVID-19. Each weekday, workers in the industry will be able to receive a free meal from one of the participating partners. If you&#8217;d like to donate to this initiative, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/hopeforhospitality\">click here<\/a>. Their initial goal is to raise $12,000 to provide UNC&#8217;s emergency department staff with 15 meals over the next 30 days. Register to run a 5K or a 19K &#8211; which you\u2019ll complete safely, on your own time, using proper physical distancing &#8211; and the proceeds of your $20 registration will benefit N.C. craft breweries. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/flatten-the-curve-virtual-race-supporting-nc-brewery-staff-registration-100940327236\">Register here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Carrboro United Local Food Hub<\/strong> The first <strong>Carrboro United initiative<\/strong>, the <strong>Local Food Hub<\/strong>, launched on March 21st with <strong>Acme Food &amp; Beverage<\/strong> and the local business community. It is a central food hub created to efficiently and safely feed Carrboro\/Chapel Hill\u2019s citizens for the duration of the pandemic. <strong>The Carrboro United Local Food Hub<\/strong> has hired more than 20 employees at a living wage and served over 11,200 family meals in its first four <strong>Hub Days<\/strong>. This has resulted in a direct injection of $102,000 to local restaurants and $47,000 to local farmers.
