Nearly 50 individuals shared with us their favorite <strong>Tupelo Honey Caf\u00e9<\/strong> menu item. <strong>Tupelo&#8217;s<\/strong> very own <strong>Elizabeth Sims<\/strong> helped us select the winners and they are: <strong>Jamie Stanley <\/strong>and<strong> Kate Eberle<\/strong>. <strong>Jamie&#8217;s<\/strong> favorite dish is the Shoo Grill Cheese, Have Mercy. Wilmington Street and the current status is <strong>&#8220;any day now.&#8221;<\/strong> Their latest Facebook posting suggested possibly today, but that was a few days ago, and they haven&#8217;t provided any updates since. Thanks to readers <strong>Hugh Autry<\/strong> and <strong>Russ O&#8217;Melia<\/strong> we learned that a <strong>Menchie&#8217;s Frozen Yogurt<\/strong> and a <strong>Daylight Donuts<\/strong> are planning openings. <strong>Menchie&#8217;s<\/strong> will be at 875 Highway West shopping center and <strong>Daylight Donuts<\/strong> will be in the Lowe&#8217;s shopping center at the corner of Aversboro and Timber Drive. We&#8217;ll keep an eye on these for opening dates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham County Restaurant News\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>We got an update this week from the <strong>Herald Sun<\/strong> on the <strong>300 East Main Building<\/strong> project over in Carrboro (think Hampton Inn &amp; Suites). <strong>Calavera Empanada &amp; Tequila Bar<\/strong>\u00a0is targeted to open in May, followed by the\u00a0<strong>East Main Meatball Shoppe<\/strong>\u00a0in early June. Upon opening, they will join <strong>Hickory Tavern<\/strong>, the sports caf\u00e9 that is already open in that complex.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also from the <strong>Herald Sun<\/strong>, we got word that a gelato, sorbet and crepe shop called\u00a0<strong>Yum\u00a0<\/strong>is targeted to open May 1 at 118 N. Churton St. in downtown Hillsborough. <strong>Mick and Kate Carroll<\/strong>, the operators of <strong>Radius Pizzeria &amp; Pub<\/strong>, are opening the new sweets shop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And finally, over in Durham, the <strong>Herald Sun<\/strong> is reporting that the planned new gluten-free\u00a0restaurant <strong>Primal Food &amp; Spirits<\/strong>\u00a0could open as early as June. <strong>Primal<\/strong> is the newest venture by <strong>Tim Lyons<\/strong>, the owner of <strong>Blu Seafood and Bar<\/strong>.
