They noted that they will be will be adding live music, a separate gaming area and a larger outdoor space. They also shared that their sister bar, <strong>Atlantic Lounge<\/strong>, will also be opening with a new smoked taco restaurant, <strong>Lil Hombre<\/strong>. The two businesses will be moving into 408 E. Second St. and 105 S. Lombard by the end of the year. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thecardinalbar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with announcements on their Instagram page here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Friend <strong>Kenan Barnes<\/strong> shared that a concept called <strong>The Arepa Bar<\/strong> has opened in <strong>Bent Tree Plaza<\/strong> at 7909 Falls of the Neuse Road in the former <strong>Papaya Chicken &amp; Grill <\/strong>spot. They are serving up authentic Colombian arepas &#8211; fried then char-grilled patties with 100% cornmeal and naturally gluten free and stuffed with your choice of fresh ingredients. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/thearepabar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get to know them here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Cary, <strong>Michael DePersia<\/strong> with <strong>DePersia &amp; Associates<\/strong> shared that the <strong>Firehouse Subs <\/strong>in Cary (just off Kildaire Farm Road) that closed a few months back appears to be leased to a concept called <strong>Healthy But Good &#8211; Fast Food for Smart People<\/strong>. Apparently they will be offering healthy meal replacement smoothies, &#8220;turbo teas&#8221; and functional beverages. Guess we will have to wait and see what that entails. Stay tuned. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Out in Wendell the <strong>Farmhouse Cafe at Wendell Falls<\/strong> is thriving and growing in today&#8217;s environment with a huge patio seating area, a walk up take out window and an online ordering platform. Additionally, they have taken over the food service at <strong>Wendell Country Club<\/strong>, they are opening a whole new catering arm (called <strong>Farmhouse Caters<\/strong>), and in September they will be rolling out &#8220;Micro&#8221; wine and beer dinners at the <strong>Farmhouse<\/strong> &#8211; a five course wine\/beer dinner series for 10 people (the max allowed for indoor dining). They have covered the patio with a beautiful tin roofing (fully weather proof), added overhead fans and twinkling lights, and expanded the size to allow for more tables. It&#8217;s really beautiful out there &#8211; an oasis to truly forget all this Covid stuff. All of the tables will, of course, be spaced 6 feet apart to allow for social distancing. They are accepting parties on a first come, first served basis only. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ACMEcarrboro\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>See pictures on their Facebook page here<\/strong><\/a>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Chapel Hill, <strong>Carrie Brogren<\/strong> of the <strong>Chapel Hill-Carrboro Foodies<\/strong> group shared with me that <strong>Silverspot Cinema<\/strong> has reopened their restaurant, <strong>Trilogy<\/strong>, serving up freshly prepared dishes, wine, craft beers and signature cocktails. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.silverspot.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visit them here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Saw on the <strong>Chapel Hill Carroboro Foodies <\/strong>group that The <strong>News of Orange County<\/strong> reported that <strong>John Roberts<\/strong> and <strong>Aaron Pratt <\/strong>will be opening <strong>C&amp;B Community Store<\/strong> at the corner of Highway 86 and West Sawmill Road. The business plan calls for a convenience store, a kitchen that will serve breakfast and lunch, fuel pumps and a wood-fired pizza offering on weekend evenings. Look for them to open in November. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CB-Community-Store-114346807033420\/\" target=\"_blank\">Follow their progress on Facebook here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A happiest of birthdays to my friends <strong>Angelo<\/strong> and <strong>Vinny<\/strong> at <strong>IP3<\/strong> on West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill as they turn <strong>40 years old<\/strong> today! They are truly a Chapel Hill tradition and some of the nicest people you will ever meet! Did I mention the incredible food!?! <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.italianpizzeria3.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Visit them here<\/strong><\/a>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Closings \/ Cancellations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chef <strong>Patrick Cowden<\/strong> and <strong>Daniel Whittaker <\/strong>have made the dire decision not to reopen the <strong>Pharmacy Cafe<\/strong>. The cafe was founded on social gathering, building community and getting to know new neighbors.\u00a0The simple fact is that the space is too small to allow adequate social distancing. That is the bad news. The good news is that their <strong>Farmhouse<\/strong> <strong>Cafe<\/strong> in Wendell is doing really well and will now get all their attention with lots of new plans. Read about their expanded plans above. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also in downtown Raleigh, <strong>Leslie<\/strong> at <strong>Taste Carolina<\/strong> shared with us that the <strong>Reuben&#8217;s NY Deli<\/strong> on Davie Street has closed indefinitely. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Michael DePersia<\/strong> with <strong>DePersia &amp; Associates<\/strong> shared with me that <strong>Sushi Mon<\/strong> on Raleigh&#8217;s Hillsborough Street will not reopen and will be converted to an Indian restaurant. Stay tuned.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Chapel Hill got word that Franklin Street&#8217;s <strong>Ms Mong<\/strong> has closed permanently due to COVID-19. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also in Chapel Hill, <strong>Carrie Brogren<\/strong> of the <strong>Chapel Hill-Carrboro Foodies<\/strong> group shared the news that the Chapel Hill location of <strong>Tobacco Road Sports Cafe<\/strong> will not reopen. The Durham and Raleigh locations are open! <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>David McCreary<\/strong> shared the news that <strong>Ruby Tuesday<\/strong> at 1260 N. Main Street in Fuquay-Varina has closed its doors permanently.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Food Trucks&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Giddy up! It is rodeo time! Yep, over 14 trucks will gather tomorrow, <strong>August 22<\/strong>, at the headquarters of the <strong>Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina<\/strong> over on Capital Blvd. (1924 Capital Blvd.) in Raleigh. The event will take place from <strong>noon until 4 p.m.<\/strong> Proceeds to benefit the <strong>Food Bank<\/strong>. Get a list of the trucks and all the details <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/s\/carolina-food-truck-rodeo\/754076712019833\/?ti=icl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on their Facebook event page here<\/a><\/strong>. Practice social distancing and wear your mask!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Got word from owner <strong>Zack Long<\/strong> that he has opened a food truck called <strong>Carolina\u2019s Catch<\/strong>. They are serving up seafood from the North Carolina coast as well as seasonal vegetables. You can find them at local brewery\u2019s and they also cater. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/carolinascatch\/\" target=\"_blank\">Follow them on Instagram here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Triangle on the Cheap shared the news that <strong>Food Truck Flix<\/strong> is a recurring event that combines drive-in movies with food trucks, for a safer entertainment experience just announced their schedule for the upcoming weekends (Friday and Saturday nights).\u00a0The events will be taking place at <strong>Frontier RTP<\/strong>, 800 Park Offices, Durham, and at Focus Church, 7000 Destiny Drive, Raleigh. You can purchase tickets in advance for any of the drive-in movies. The price is $25 per car. Of course, you\u2019ll also want to bring money for the food trucks. The restaurant is donating all proceeds that day to <strong>TABLE<\/strong>, a local nonprofit that provides hunger relief and nutrition education services to children living in Orange County. Coronato is also asking diners to contribute non-perishable donations. You order your picnic ahead of time and pick it up on Saturday and Sunday from noon til 7 pm. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toasttab.com\/acr-park\/v3\"><strong>Order ahead here<\/strong><\/a> and get contactless pick-up at the Blue Ridge Patio at the East Building.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Alley Twenty Six<\/strong>, one of Downtown Durham\u2019s staple businesses, announced a weekly outdoor pop-up event titled <strong>\u201cAlley Freezes Over\u201d<\/strong> happening every Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting) from 12 pm to 8 pm. It continues throughout the summer and early fall. The pop-up includes new frozen cocktails and the choice of \u201cboozy\u201d or alcohol-free snow cones using their local, all-natural <strong>Alley Twenty Six<\/strong> syrups, plus a revamped food menu from chef <strong>Carrie Schleiffer<\/strong>. Seating will be available outside, in the namesake alley (26 Alley) located directly adjacent to the cocktail bar and will be following safety guidelines, including mask wearing, practicing social distancing, and sanitizing surfaces between guests. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleytwentysix.com\/\">Visit them here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Taste Carolina<\/strong> has partnered with five local food and drink artisans on a small group online class that will begin in <strong>mid-August<\/strong>. It meets once a week for live demonstrations by each artisan and a social and fun experience led by <strong>Lesley<\/strong> at <strong>Taste Carolina<\/strong>. The businesses represented are: <strong>Cookie Gurlie, The Mad Popper, Carrboro Coffee Company, Sweet Little Something,<\/strong> and<strong> Alley Twenty Six<\/strong>.
