Now, after a long weekend wait&#8230;this week&#8217;s restaurant news!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bittersweet<\/strong>, a new dessert, coffee and cocktail lounge, opened this past Friday in downtown Raleigh at 16 E. Martin Street. All of their desserts are made in house by <strong>bittycakes<\/strong> and seasonal produce for desserts and drinks comes from <strong>Lil&#8217; Farm<\/strong>. Their coffee is from <strong>Counter Culture<\/strong> and they&#8217;ll have a full espresso menu as well as organic tea from <strong>Bellocq<\/strong> (out of Brooklyn). As they say, think of it as &#8220;a place where you can get bourbon with your pie, champagne with your cake and Irish whiskey in your coffee.&#8221; Congratulations to <strong>Kim Hammer<\/strong>.   <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bittersweetraleigh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Saleh<\/strong> brothers celebrated Mother&#8217;s Day by renaming <strong>Neomonde&#8217;s<\/strong> Strickland Road location to <strong>Sassool Cafe, Market &#038; Bakery<\/strong>  in honor of their mother, <strong>Cecilia<\/strong>. The fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant will continue to serve the same menu that customers have come to love since <strong>Mounir Saleh<\/strong> opened <strong>Neomonde&#8217;s<\/strong> Strickland Road location in North Raleigh over two years ago. The Raleigh and Morrisville locations will retain the <strong>Neomonde<\/strong> name. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sassool.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check out the new logo and site here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported this week that the owners of <strong>San Jose Mexican Restaurante Group<\/strong> will open a new location in the <strong>Wakefield Park Shopping Center<\/strong> in North Raleigh. It is located at the intersection of Capital Boulevard and New Falls of Neuse Road. Construction is expected to start this summer with an opening in the late fall. Like any new restaurant, they will need to invest in the very best restaurant supplies, from grills to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nellaonline.com\/\">Nella Cutlery<\/a>, for example, so that they can impress diners. It will be a second location in Raleigh for <strong>San Jose<\/strong>, which has 12 locations across eastern North Carolina. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/san-jose-mexican-restaurant-raleigh\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out on Yelp here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Got word from reader <strong>Lori Cammie Rice<\/strong> that <strong>Mami Nora&#8217;s<\/strong> in Morrisville is now open. They are located in the old <strong>Bear Rock Cafe<\/strong> spot at the corner of Cary Parkway and Chapel Hill Road. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/maminoras.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Not to be outdone by their friends over in Chapel Hill, it looks like NC State students will also be able to indulge in a little late night goodness when <strong>Insomnia Cookies<\/strong> opens on Hillsborough Street in the old <strong>Planet Smoothie<\/strong> location. They will deliver warm cookies to your doorstep until 3am. They also sell different types of brownies and of course, cold milk. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/insomniacookies.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to tweet from <strong>Joseph Wells<\/strong> we learned that over in Cary the <strong>El Dorado<\/strong> that was at 990 High House Road is now <strong>Fiesta Mexicana<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And, back over in Raleigh there is a new kid in town when it comes to restaurant supplies and equipment. <strong>General Store Supply<\/strong> has opened at 1501 Garner Station Boulevard next to Big Lots at the 70 &#038; 401 split. Their grand opening is this <strong>Saturday May 17th<\/strong> with a ribbon cutting starting at 9:45 am.   All are welcome! <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/generalstoresupply.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Visit them online here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &#038; Chatham County Restaurant News  <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>News &#038; Observer<\/strong> reported this week that <strong>Only Burger<\/strong> is expanding with a second brick-and-mortar restaurant in downtown Durham at the new <strong>Diamond View III<\/strong> building at <strong>American Tobacco<\/strong>. The restaurant is targeted to open in August. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/onlyburger.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check out Only Burger here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the <strong>News &#038; Observer<\/strong>, <strong>Andy Magowan<\/strong>, chef and owner of <strong>Geer Street Garden<\/strong>, is opening a second Durham restaurant, an Italian-American place called <strong>The Boot<\/strong>. The 90-seat restaurant will take over the former location of <strong>Local Yogurt<\/strong> at 2501 University Drive. Look for a late August or early September. In the meantime, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/geerstreetgarden.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">check out Geer Street here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported this week that <strong>Spicy 9 Sushi &#038; Asian Restaurant<\/strong> has opened for business at 140 West Franklin Street. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/spicy9chapelhill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We haven&#8217;t been able to confirm this, but <strong>Art<\/strong> over at <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wanderingsheppard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Wandering Sheppard<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> dropped a hint this week that the folks at <strong>Olio and Aceto Food Truck<\/strong> (<strong>Suzie &#038; Megan<\/strong>) would be taking over the space in Chapel Hill formerly occupied by <strong>Tracy&#8217;s New York Deli<\/strong>. Look for a late July opening. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/olioandacetofoodtruck.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We will keep an eye on it<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported that <strong>Honeysuckle Tea House<\/strong>, part of a small farm and greenhouse operation, opened yesterday at 8871 Pickards Meadow Road in Chapel Hill. The business includes an herb garden, tea room and natural children&#8217;s play area. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.honeysuckleteahouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check it out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Chapel Hill, upon a recent visit, I learned that the <strong>Torero&#8217;s<\/strong> in <strong>Cole Park Plaza<\/strong> on 15-501 South in Chapel Hill has changed its name to <strong>Guanajuato Mexican Restaurant<\/strong>. Apparently it is under the same ownership, just a new name and the menu has changed slightly. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/friendsguanajuato\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And in Hillsborough, we got word from our friends over at <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tastecarolina.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Taste Carolina<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> that <strong>Yum<\/strong>, a gelato, sorbet and crepe shop, has opened at 118 N. Churton St. in the downtown area. <strong>Mick <\/strong>and<strong> Kate Carroll<\/strong>, the operators of <strong>Radius Pizzeria &#038; Pub<\/strong>, own <strong>Yum<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings  <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>We learned from <strong>WRAL<\/strong> this week that <strong>Grounds<\/strong> coffee shop in Cary is closing their doors. They will hold a closing celebration on <strong>Saturday, May 17<\/strong>, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the report, the owners are going to focus full-time on their catering company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to a tweet from one of our followers, we learned that the <strong>Dunkin&#8217; Donuts \/ Baskin Robbins<\/strong> on Hillsborough Street has closed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Got word that <strong>Ox and Rabbit Soda and Sundries<\/strong> on Durham&#8217;s <strong>Ninth Street<\/strong> will be closing their doors. They will be having a thank you\/farewell party on <strong>Saturday, May 24<\/strong>. Gates open at 6 and the ballgame begins at 7:05.
