No word yet on an open date. Thanks to <strong>Odis<\/strong>!<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham County Restaurant News<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>News and Observer<\/strong> reported this week that<strong> Sup Dogs<\/strong> will be opening in the former <strong>Pepper&#8217;s Pizza<\/strong> (rest in peace) on <strong>June 9<\/strong>. Wildly popular in their original location near ECU, owner <strong>Bret Oliverio<\/strong> says to expect the same here in his newest location adjacent to UNC. Look for every imaginable variation on a hot dog. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/supdogs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to a tip from reader <strong>Jacqueline Atlas<\/strong>, she noticed on a recent walk down Franklin Street in Chapel Hill that what was once <strong>Trilussa<\/strong>, and then <strong>Mozzarella&#8217;s<\/strong> (for a short time) is now <strong>Mina&#8217;s<\/strong>. Owner <strong>John Hanna<\/strong> says the menu includes an eclectic assortment of sandwiches, salads, burgers, wings and pasta dishes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Chapel Hill, the folks over at<strong> University Mall<\/strong> made a vague reference to a new restaurant coming into part of the space that is currently occupied by Roses. The brief &#8220;hint&#8221; suggested that a concept called <strong>Tacos &amp; Tequila<\/strong> would be coming to the mall. The contemporary Mexican restaurant is expected to open later this year. We will keep an eye on it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Carrboro, the <strong>Herald Sun<\/strong> is reporting that the owners of <strong>Elmo&#8217;s Diner<\/strong> are looking to partner to open a new restaurant in <strong>Carr Mill Mall<\/strong> called <strong>Caf\u00e9 Symmetry<\/strong>. If the financing deal closes (which it is expected to do in the next 30 days), they will open the new restaurant in the former <strong>Panzanella<\/strong> location and would be looking to open by the end of the year after extensive renovations to that space. We will keep an eye on it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We told you last week that <strong>Momoyama Sushi<\/strong> over in Durham near the <strong>Streets at Southpoint<\/strong> will close tomorrow after a 5 year run. The <strong>Herald Sun<\/strong> reported this week that a new <strong>Penn Station East Coast Subs<\/strong> restaurant is targeted to open this fall in that space. We will keep an eye on it for an open date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A quick update, thanks to a posting on a<strong> Yelp<\/strong> message board, on <strong>Oval Park Grille<\/strong>. Word is they are looking at a June opening for the new neighborhood restaurant, which is going into the old <strong>Broad Street Caf\u00e9<\/strong> space. The restaurant and bar are the vision of <strong>Greg de Marchi<\/strong>, the former bar manager at the Durham French bistro <strong>Vin Rouge<\/strong>, and of <strong>Todd Whitney<\/strong>, the former chef de cuisine at <strong>Vin Rouge<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ovalparkgrille.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Saw on a <strong>Yelp<\/strong> message board, and confirmed on the company&#8217;s website, that the <strong>Mimi&#8217;s<\/strong> on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh (6320 Plantation Center Drive) has closed. The one in Cary on Walnut Street remains open.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Food Trucks\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to a tip from <strong>John Huisman<\/strong> (aka <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/triangleexplorer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Triangle Explorer<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>), we learned that there is a new truck rolling around the streets of the Triangle. Called <strong>Sol Tacos<\/strong>, they serve up southern inspired gourmet tacos. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.soltacosnc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> and get their full schedule on where you can find them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a <strong>food truck rodeo<\/strong> this Sunday over in Carrboro to benefit<strong> Fix-A-Home<\/strong>.\n<div>The rodeo is from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, <strong>June 1<\/strong> at the <strong>Carrboro Town Commons<\/strong>.
