Impress your co-workers at the water cooler.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">  <strong>Featured Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>  Congrats to <strong>Chef Dean Thompson<\/strong> of <strong>Flights at the Renaissance Hotel on Main at North Hills<\/strong> in Raleigh who became the first two-time regional champion last week overcoming the battle of spiced honey liqueur and grits. <strong>Thompson<\/strong> beat out <strong>Chef Steve Zanini<\/strong> of <strong>Jimmy V&#8217;s Steak House &#038; Tavern<\/strong> in Cary in the final Triangle dinner competition after rising to the top of the 16-chef regional tournament that started back in June. The <strong>Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series<\/strong> heads back to Raleigh for the <strong>Final Fire<\/strong> in November. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.competitiondining.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Additional information and ticket reservations are available here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>John Huisman<\/strong>, aka <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/triangleexplorer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Triangle Explorer<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>, tipped me off to the fact that Wake Forest is getting a new eatery in September called <strong>Leli&#8217;s Diner<\/strong> at 3325 Rogers Road. Not much on <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lelisdiner.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">their website<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> yet, but they are throwing some delicious looking pictures up on their Twitter feed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Wake Forest, <strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that<strong> Rosati&#8217;s Pizza <\/strong>has opened off of South Main Street. This marks the second Triangle-area location (Morrisville is the other) for the Chicago-based franchise that serves up pizza, pasta and sandwiches.  <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosatispizza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A big congratulations to the folks over at <strong>Sassool<\/strong> (formerly Neomonde) in North Raleigh as they hold their official grand re-opening tomorrow (<strong>August 9<\/strong>) beginning with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Get a l<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wral.com\/entertainment\/out_and_about\/event\/13865043\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">ist of all the events going on tomorrow here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Got word this week from a tweet from <strong>Joseph Wells<\/strong> that <strong>Jet&#8217;s Pizza<\/strong>, a deep-dish pizza chain out of Michigan, has opened another store at 3004 Wake Forest Road in North Raleigh. This marks the 4th Triangle location. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jetspizza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have an update to a new restaurant we told you about earlier this year in downtown Raleigh. When we first reported it, they were looking at a summer-time opening, but got an update this week (via their Facebook page) that <strong>Chef Gregory Hamm<\/strong>, who owns <strong>Caf\u00e9 121<\/strong> in Sanford and Cary, will be opening <strong>P.G.Werth&#8217;s<\/strong> at 927 West Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh in late October. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pgwerths\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check their Facebook page here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And one last update via a Facebook feed. We learned that the Cary location of <strong>World of Beer<\/strong> is shooting for an <strong>August<\/strong> opening &#8211; as in, this month! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wobcary\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with them here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And <strong>David McCreary<\/strong> (author of <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lunchboysays.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Lunch Boy Says<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>) reminded me last week that the <strong>Firehouse Subs<\/strong> on Main Street in Fuquay Varina has opened. Thanks <strong>David<\/strong>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &#038; Chatham County Restaurant News  <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>News &#038; Observer<\/strong> reported this week that Durham chef <strong>Scott Howell<\/strong> (owner of <strong>Nana&#8217;s<\/strong> and <strong>Nanataco<\/strong>) will be expanding his restaurant group with the opening of <strong>Nanasteak<\/strong> at <strong>American Tobacco Campus<\/strong>, tentatively scheduled to open next spring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And if that is not enough to keep <strong>Scott<\/strong> busy, he also has another new restaurant and cocktail bar called <strong>Bar Virgile<\/strong>, which will be at the corner of Main and Mangum streets in downtown Durham. There is also talk of Scott adding a custom shipping container (like those from <a href=\"https:\/\/bmarkostructures.com\/modular-restaurants\/\">BMarko<\/a>) to extend the bar, so watch this space. The focus is cocktails but there will be a small kitchen that will serve housemade frankfurters, sausages, pates, terrines, some imported meats and local and imported cheeses. <strong>Howell<\/strong> hopes to open <strong>Bar Virgile<\/strong> later this year. Not much is there, but <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Bar-Virgile\/874651885895477\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">here is their Facebook page<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> if you want to &#8220;like&#8221; them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Chapel Hill Magazine<\/strong> reported this week that a new restaurant is opening soon in the <strong>Chatham Downs Shopping Center<\/strong> (Harris Teeter) on 15-501 just across the county line in Chatham County. Called <strong>Figs &#038; Honey<\/strong>, it is owned by the husband and wife team of <strong>Heba Salama<\/strong> and <strong>Ed Brantley<\/strong>. I&#8217;m looking forward to this one. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.figandhoneync.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>I got a tweet this week that the <strong>Colorado Burrito Company<\/strong> has opened in the <strong>Shops at Daniel Boone Village<\/strong> in Hillsborough. I was unable to find a website or Facebook page for the new eatery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Caught wind this week that <strong>Bella&#8217;s<\/strong> over in Durham has moved to Carrboro in the old <strong>Ba Da Wings<\/strong> location at 360 W. Main Street. Started three years ago in Durham, they now call Carrboro home and are called <strong>Bella&#8217;s International Cuisine<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bellasic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">You can check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings  <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>None to report.
