If you are not familiar with <strong>321<\/strong>, they are a coffee shop and roaster that employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The first <strong>321 Coffee<\/strong> location opened in the<strong> State Farmers Market<\/strong> building in 2019 and they will open a location inside the Pendo headquarters (<strong>Raleigh Crossing Tower<\/strong>) in February. They will continue to operate both of these locations and have plans to potentially open another location this year and plan to open a roasting facility. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/321coffee.com\/blog\/downtown-raleigh-storefront\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Get familiar with 321 and their story here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. Thanks to the <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> for providing the additional information on their growth.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Wake County Restaurant News<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And that is not the only food news related to the the mixed-use development known as <strong>Bloc83<\/strong> (which includes <strong>One Glenwood<\/strong> and <strong>Tower Two<\/strong>) in Raleigh&#8217;s <strong>Glenwood South<\/strong>. The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> shared that the new owners also announced that a <strong>First Watch<\/strong> will move into a 4,000 square-foot space. <strong>First Watch<\/strong> is a breakfast and lunch restaurant chain based in Florida which currently has nine locations throughout the Triangle, including four in Raleigh. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit First Watch here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And the Triangle Business Journal shed a little more light on the concept going into the former Edwards Mill Bar &amp; Grill. What we do know &#8211; <strong>Urban Food Group<\/strong> family (think <strong>Chow<\/strong>, <strong>Vivace<\/strong> and <strong>Coquette<\/strong> here in Raleigh) will open a new concept there. And it is slated to open in May. That is what we know for sure. Initially we reported that it would be called <strong>Foundry<\/strong>, but <strong>TBJ<\/strong> is reporting that it might be called the <strong>Mill<\/strong>, perhaps <strong>Mill Urban Tavern<\/strong>. But nothing is set in stone just yet. In fact, the menu isn\u2019t yet complete since a chef has not been chosen, but you can expect something similar to the group\u2019s former Hillsborough Street restaurant <strong>Porter\u2019s City Tavern<\/strong>. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.urbanfoodgroup.com\/our-restaurants\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Keep up with Urban Food Group here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Raleigh&#8217;s <strong>North Hills<\/strong>, two bits of news. First up, the <strong>Redneck BBQ Lab<\/strong> has started building out their location there as they plan to have their grand opening in May 2022. Their original location is in Benson at McGee&#8217;s Crossroads. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ncbbqlab.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Keep up with their progress here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Additionally, we learned that we are getting closer to the opening of the their location of <strong>Jubala Coffee<\/strong> as they look to a February opening. They will open in the\u00a0<strong>Park District of North Hills<\/strong>\u00a0adjacent to the Coastal Credit Union Midtown Park. Look for \u201can enhanced food menu\u201d that includes weekend brunch options. Their original location is in Raleigh\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Lafayette Village<\/strong>\u00a0and they have another location on Hillsborough Street on the ground floor of the\u00a0<strong>Aloft Hotel<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jubalacoffee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit Jubala here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Cary, the residents of <strong>Preston<\/strong> will be excited to learn that a location of <strong>Dunkin&#8217;<\/strong> (I still want to call it <strong>Dunkin&#8217; <\/strong>Donuts) in the Lowe\u2019s Foods shopping center at the corner of High House Rd and Cary Parkway. Thanks to <strong>Michael<\/strong> <strong>DePersia<\/strong> of <strong>DePersia &amp; Associates<\/strong> for bringing this to my attention. No word yet on a timeline. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dunkindonuts.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit Dunkin&#8217; here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also in Cary, <strong>RalToday<\/strong> shared that <strong>Dave and Busters<\/strong> will reopen at a new location at 1111 Walnut St., close to the soon-to-be Epic Games global headquarters, next Monday, January 17. Epic Games bought out the previous location inside <strong>Cary Towne Center<\/strong>. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.daveandbusters.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit them here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A quick update on news we brought you back in August, 2021. <strong>David McCreary<\/strong> shared that <strong>Bellini Fine Italian Cuisine<\/strong> has closed their current location in <strong>MacGregor Village<\/strong> in Cary as they move to their new location at 7256 GB Alford Highway in the <strong>Shoppes at Holly Springs<\/strong> this fall. <strong>Bellini<\/strong> is taking over the space formerly occupied by the now-shuttered <strong>Los Pos Mexican restaurant<\/strong>. Look for them to open in the new space at the end of this month. Best to <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BelliniFineItalianCuisine\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">follow them on their Facebook page here<\/span><\/a><\/strong> for updates and announcements. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Up in Wake Forest, <strong>John Huisman<\/strong>, aka <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/triangleexplorer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Triangle Explorer<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, spotted a sign for a new donut shop called <strong>Heritage Donuts<\/strong> going in next to the Publix.\u00a0We couldn&#8217;t find an online presence, so we will have to rely on <strong>John<\/strong> for updates. Stay tuned. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Last night <strong>WRAL<\/strong> unveiled the winners of the <strong>WRAL Voters&#8217; Choice Awards<\/strong>. The name plays off the Davie Poplar tree on campus believed to be the spot where the University was founded (and Old East was the first building on campus). They are in the spot formerly occupied by <strong>Coco Bean Coffee &amp; Tea<\/strong>, which relocated to <strong>Glen Lennox&#8217;s<\/strong> new <strong>Gwendolyn building<\/strong> and expanded their offerings. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thepoplarcafenc\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Check out Poplar on Facebook here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Durham, reader <strong>Dave Salman<\/strong> shared the news that <strong>Rockwood Dairy Bar<\/strong> in Durham (2514 University Drive) is moving from their original <strong>Rockwood<\/strong> location at the end of January. However, as of yet, they have not said where they are moving to. You will have to <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rockwooddairybar\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">follow their Facebook page<\/span><\/a><\/strong> for information and hopefully an announcement soon. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kudos to downtown Durham\u2019s <strong>M Sushi<\/strong> for being the only North Carolina restaurant named to <strong>OpenTable\u2019s Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2021<\/strong>. <strong>M Sushi <\/strong>is owned by chef <strong>Michael Lee<\/strong> and his wife, <strong>Yeonju (Kim) Lee<\/strong>. <strong>M Sushi<\/strong> is located at 311 Holland St. and is the flagship member of the <strong>M Restaurant<\/strong> group. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.m-restaurants.com\/m-sushi\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit them here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The folks over at the <strong>Chapel Hill\/Orange County Visitors Bureau<\/strong> have put together a great list of dining options in Orange County (Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough, etc.) that have outdoor seating and heaters. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sightslightsandbites.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Check out the list here<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Closings \/ Cancellations<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported this week that the lone <strong>Ruth\u2019s Chris Steak House<\/strong> in Raleigh has closed due to Kane Realty Corp.&#8217;s redevelopment of the North Hills shopping district. The restaurant will NOT move to a temporary location, but will reopen on the ground floor of the new development (a 12-story apartment building) in the winter of 2024.
