Agriculture Commissioner <strong>Steve Troxler<\/strong> announced this week that a new two-story food hall, <strong>The Midway Event Center<\/strong>, would replace the 70-year-old <strong>Lunch Stand<\/strong> building (or Church Row as I&#8217;ve always called it) at the <strong>NC State Fairgrounds<\/strong>. The new food hall will be open year-round and will serve &#8220;fair food&#8221; when the State Fair is in town. It is part of an overall ground improvement project that will take 3-4 years to complete. If you are not familiar with <strong>Chicken Bee<\/strong>, they feature Korean-style fried chicken and a variety of savory Asian fusion dishes. They currently have locations in Durham, Cary (H-Mart) and Greensboro. No word on the timeline. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/chickenbee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Get to know them here<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reader <strong>Chris Creighton<\/strong> shared with me that there is a new Mexican restaurant coming to Cary at 2026 Kildaire Farm Road called <strong>A.C.P.&#8217;s Mexican Grill and Bar<\/strong>. No opening date yet. They don&#8217;t have their website up just yet, and their Facebook page doesn&#8217;t offer much information at this point. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Down in Johnston County, the <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported that Rocky Mount-based <strong>Barley and Burger<\/strong> opened yesterday at a new location at 728 North Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield. They had been a tenant in the <strong>Old North State Food Hall<\/strong> in Selma since the hall opened, but needed a larger space due to the support and following. They have already closed the Erwin Road location (noted that they are all currently working out of the <strong>Grub<\/strong> space) and will open in their new location this Spring. The Triangle area will have five locations starting with the first in Durham at 4716 Apex Hwy (Hwy. 55\/Hwy. 54). Started in California in the early 1960s, their menu features everything from tacos and tostadas to cheeseburgers and fries. Look for the first location to open this September. Location of the remaining four locations hasn&#8217;t been disclosed yet. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deltaco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Start getting familiar with them here<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Closings<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> shared that news that the Durham location (at <strong>American Tobacco Campus<\/strong>) of <strong>Five Star<\/strong> has closed. The original Raleigh location remains thriving!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> also shared the news that last location of <strong>Tropical Picken Chicken<\/strong> closed last month on Wake Forest Road.
