Impress your co-workers at the water cooler.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>One of the biggest foodie events in the Triangle, if not the Southeastern United States, is next weekend and a lot of the events that are part of it are close to selling out. The <strong>TerraVita Food &amp; Drink Festival<\/strong> stretches out over three days (<strong>October 8-10<\/strong>) with the \u201cheadline\u201d event taking place on <strong>Saturday, October 10th &#8211; The Grand Tasting on the Green<\/strong>. The rain has kept you cooped up inside your house for the past two weekends. So get out and enjoy the very best our region has to offer next Thursday through Saturday! <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/terravitaevent.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get details on all the events around this festival here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Big news in downtown Raleigh this week.<strong> Lou Moshakos<\/strong>, founder of <strong>LM Restaurants<\/strong>, Inc. (think <strong>Carolina Ale House<\/strong> and <strong>Taverna Agora<\/strong>, among others), recently signed a long-term lease as the master tenant of two adjoined buildings on East Martin Street in downtown Raleigh. <strong>Moshakos<\/strong> will use the spaces at 17 &amp; 19 E. Martin St. to open two new restaurants. One concept would be reminiscent of a European bakery, with specialty coffees, sweets, breads and sandwiches, all made in-house. The second concept is slated to be a casual dining restaurant yet to be named.<strong> Moshakos<\/strong> did confirm it will not be a <strong>Carolina Ale House<\/strong>. L<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lmrest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">earn more about LM Restaurants here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A quick update on <strong>Piebird<\/strong> over in Raleigh. A note from the owners indicated that they are in the middle of \u201crestructuring\u201d and are intent on re-opening. We will keep an eye on it. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/piebirdraleigh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with them here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And in Raleigh\u2019s Five Points area, <strong>Cave 1912 Restaurant + Wine Bar + Shop<\/strong>, which opened at the beginning of September, announced that they would begin offering Sunday Brunch service this weekend. The service will run every Sunday from 11 am to 3:30 pm. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cave1912.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Raleigh, the <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported this week that after 27 years, <strong>Edwards Mill Bar &amp; Grill<\/strong> came under new management as <strong>John Ray<\/strong> turned the restaurant over to <strong>Eschelon Experiences<\/strong>, the hospitality group owned and operated by Raleigh restaurateur <strong>G. Patel<\/strong>. But don\u2019t expect much in the way of change. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eschelonexperiences.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out all of Eschelon&#8217;s properties here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Cary, we got word this week that <strong>Chatham Street Wine Market<\/strong>, a boutique wine shop and tasting bar, is coming to downtown Cary. It is expected to open in late October at 111 W Chatham St, in the space formerly occupied by <strong>Gather<\/strong>, a coffee and gift shop. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/chathamstreetwine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On a trek through Apex last weekend, I noticed a <strong>\u201cComing Soon\u201d<\/strong> sign hanging up in the <strong>Beaver Creek shopping center<\/strong> for a <strong>Noodles &amp; Company<\/strong>. It is right across from <strong>Panera Bread<\/strong>. No word yet on an open date. This will be the 8th Triangle area location. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.noodles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeping in Apex, according to the developer of <strong>Nichols\u2019 Plaza<\/strong> on Hwy. 64 (where Costco is going) they will be joined by <strong>Five Guys, Ruckus, Pei Wei, Chipotle, McAlister&#8217;s Deli, Zaxby&#8217;s <\/strong>and a<strong> Starbucks<\/strong>. Look for these to start opening in the spring of 2016. Stay tuned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And one more Apex note, <strong>Los Tres<\/strong> (no Magueyes in it) is open now on Hwy 55 in the old <strong>Pizza Inn<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And in eastern Wake, got word from <strong>David McCreary<\/strong> (aka <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lunchboysays.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lunch Boy Says<\/a><\/span><\/strong>) that <strong>Bellini Fine Italian Cuisine<\/strong> at 1436 N. Main Street in Fuquay-Varina plans to close its current location and move to Cary. According to the proprietors, plans call for the restaurant to relocate to 107 Edinburgh S. Drive in the <strong>MacGregor Shopping Center<\/strong>. <strong>Bellini<\/strong> will take over the space formerly occupied by <strong>Tribute Pizza Place<\/strong>. An exact timetable for the relocation has not been determined.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham County Restaurant News<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Durham, <strong>Rob Gillespie<\/strong> and <strong>Lindsay Moriarty<\/strong> announced this week that they will be closing their original Parrish Street location so that they can focus on their larger\/newer location on Ninth Street in the former <strong>Magnolia Grill<\/strong> location. Our very best to <strong>Rob<\/strong> and <strong>Lindsay<\/strong>! Read more about their announcement here on their <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MonutsDonuts?fref=nf\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>But the other good news coming out of this was the announcement this week that the former <strong>Monuts<\/strong> shop space on Parrish Street likely won&#8217;t be empty for long. as the owners of Durham&#8217;s <strong>Pizzeria Toro<\/strong> are planning to open a small, dinner-only restaurant in that space. The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> is reporting that the project is projected to open in winter 2016. Stay tuned. The folks at <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pizzeriatoro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pizzeria Toro<\/a><\/span><\/strong> certainly have a lot on their plate! Exciting!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>After over a year of brewing in the unique nanobrewery housed above <strong>The Cookery\u2019s Front Room<\/strong> entrance, the <strong>Ponysaurus Brewing Co.<\/strong> brewery and taproom is opening its garage doors at 219 Hood Street. A <strong>Grand Opening<\/strong> celebration, featuring food trucks, live music, and local breweries will take place on <strong>October 24<\/strong><strong>th<\/strong> from 4 to 8pm. The event is free and open to the public. For more information on the grand opening, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/ponysaurusbrewing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Durham, I saw on a <strong>Yelp<\/strong> message board that <strong>Cook-Out<\/strong> is coming to the space formerly occupied by <strong>Sal&#8217;s Italian Restaurant<\/strong> on Hwy. 55 (near the intersection with Hwy. 54), which closed a few weeks ago. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/cookoutnc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And keeping up with the former <strong>Merlion<\/strong> in <strong>Southern Village<\/strong>, the sign on the door now indicates that they will reopen at some point this month as <strong>Rasa Malaysia<\/strong>. Thanks to reader <strong>Julie Grubbs<\/strong> for that update.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Chapel Hill, the folks over at <strong>Carolina Ale House<\/strong> are close to opening their newest location &#8211; this one on Chapel Hill\u2019s West Franklin Street in the former Chrysler Building. They tell me that they plan to open by the end of October! <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carolinaalehouse.com\/restaurant\/loc\/chapel-hill\/state\/nc\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Closings<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0None to report. Keep eating local, folks!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Food Trucks<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A huge congratulations to the gals behind <strong>Pho Nomenal Dumpling<\/strong> food truck (formerly <strong>Dump Pho King Truck<\/strong>) as they were the winners of the <strong>Food Network&#8217;s &#8220;Great Food Truck Race.&#8221;<\/strong> That is great for them. And what is great for us (and isn\u2019t it all really about us?), there won $50,000 which <strong>WRAL<\/strong> is reporting they plan on using toward opening a brick-and-mortar location. No timeline or location was released. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dumpphokingtruck.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>. Again, congrats!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>John Huisman<\/strong> (aka <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/triangleexplorer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Triangle Explorer<\/a><\/span><\/strong>) informed me about the fact that every Thursday from September through November, the town of Knightdale is hosting <strong>&#8220;Food Truck Thursdays&#8221;<\/strong> with a new food truck scheduled each week.
