Main Street) has been taken over by <strong>Dosirak Durham<\/strong>, a Korean food pop-up run by Durham resident <strong>Kristine Suh<\/strong> and her partner <strong>Andrew Mehring<\/strong>. Because of their tremendous success and following (including long lines) the article went on to note that she will soon open\u00a0<strong>Dosirak\u00a0Outpost<\/strong>\u00a0as a Korean convenience store just a few doors down from <strong>Remy&#8217;s<\/strong> in the space that&#8217;s currently occupied by <strong>Ashleigh Bakes Daily<\/strong> (they are heading to a new location). The storefront at 307 W. Thanks to <strong>Glenn Gillen<\/strong> for bringing this to my attention. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"> <\/mark><\/strong>     <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Wake County Restaurant News<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In downtown Raleigh, <strong>Kane Realty<\/strong> announced that <strong>Basic Brewing<\/strong>, a new brewery and full-service dining concept, will open at <strong>Platform Apartments<\/strong> in Raleigh\u2019s <strong>West End<\/strong> neighborhood, this fall. <strong>Basic Brewing<\/strong> will bring a fresh, elevated take on the traditional brewery experience blending a warm, inviting atmosphere with a thoughtfully curated food and beverage program designed for everything from casual gatherings to date nights. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/basicbrewingco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Follow along on Instagram here<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported this week that it\u2019s been 13 years since <strong>Tyler Helikson <\/strong>started <strong>Happy + Hale<\/strong> on a Raleigh street corner with a \u201cgolf cart, a tricycle and a dream.\u201d&nbsp; Now, four locations later, he\u2019s opening a sister brand called <strong>Churp<\/strong> in the&nbsp;<strong>Olde Raleigh Village<\/strong>&nbsp;(3121 Edwards Mill Road) in the former <strong>China Star Cafe<\/strong> next to <strong>Bella Monica<\/strong>. They will serve bowls with chicken, steak, fresh produce and Greek yogurt \u2014 and olive oil-based sauces. Guests will choose from signature bowls (think Mexican or Mediterranean style) and make-your-own bowls, as well as limited release bowls.&nbsp;Look for them to open later this summer. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/eatchurp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Follow their progress on Instagram here<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Up in North Raleigh, we first learned from my friend <strong>Kenan Barnes<\/strong>, and confirmed by reader <strong>Barbara Calise<\/strong>, that <strong>Oishii Kitchen<\/strong> is going into the former <strong>Cafe Tiramisu<\/strong> spot in <strong>Falls Village<\/strong>. Their logo suggests the menu will feature sushi, ramen and donburi. No word on an open date. <strong>Cafe Tiramisu<\/strong> has simply moved across the parking lot into a larger space. Do not know if it is related to any of the other <strong>Oishii<\/strong> locations in the Triangle. Stay tuned. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over in Morrisville, got word that <strong>Shake Shack<\/strong> opens on <strong>Wednesday, May 13<\/strong> at 10 a.m. at 1600 Village Market Place within the <strong>Park West Village<\/strong> shopping center. They will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. On opening day, the first wave of guests can expect to receive custom <strong>Shake Shack<\/strong> totes and North Carolina-themed tumbler cups. This nonprofit eatery doesn\u2019t post prices for meals, but instead, guests are asked to volunteer their time or donate money, produce or eggs. Looks like they are open for lunch, 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thequiltmakercafe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Visit them here<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thanks to friend <strong>Glenn Gillen<\/strong> we learned of a closing, yes, but more of a change. <strong>May 31<\/strong> will be the last day of operation for <strong>Little Barb&#8217;s Bakery<\/strong> in the <strong>Durham Food Hall<\/strong>. That we know. But this is just the end of that chapter which was just a stepping stone to the next chapter. Their announcement on Instagram concluded with, &#8220;What\u2019s to come after that\u2026.? You\u2019ll have to follow along to find out. Bagels<\/strong> will soon open in that spot. If you are not familiar, it is a Filipino tradition where food is laid directly on banana leaves, shared without utensils, eaten together. This evening honors <strong>Salita&#8217;s<\/strong> Filipino heritage and the bond he shares with <strong>Rahman<\/strong>; two immigrants who have spent their lives in kitchens, who both speak the language of live fire and the joy of feeding people well. In the spirit of Kamayan, they have reimagined a tradition \u2014 the whole-roasted pig becomes a whole lamb on the spit, a bridge between Filipino communal feasting and <strong>Saif&#8217;s<\/strong> Muslim and South Asian roots. There\u2019s a quiet struggle going on in their homes. Their parents are trying to navigate low wages, high housing and medical costs, and rising food prices \u2014 amid cutbacks to federal food assistance.&nbsp;<strong>The end of school breakfast and lunch programs for the summer could bring them to a crisis point.<\/strong> More of our neighbors have already been turning to the <strong>Food Bank of Central &amp; Eastern North Carolina <\/strong>and our partner agencies lately. We expect those numbers to grow once school is out. Summer can be a tough time for kids facing food insecurity \u2026 but it doesn\u2019t have to be, when we work together.
