Impress your co-workers at the water cooler.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Featured Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The big downtown Raleigh news is that <strong>Cafe Helios<\/strong> closed (again), but it was announced yesterday by <strong>WRAL<\/strong> that the good folks behind <strong>Jose &amp; Sons<\/strong> will open a new concept there in early 2017. They haven\u2019t disclosed much about what the new concept will be, so stay tuned. In the meantime, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/www.joseandsons.com\/our-story\" target=\"_blank\">check out Jose &amp; Sons (and their story) here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>It seems like such a long time since our last post (prior to Thanksgiving), but just after we last \u201cspoke\u201d &#8211; <strong>Royale<\/strong> opened in downtown Raleigh\u2019s <strong>City Market<\/strong> in the former <strong>Battistella\u2019s<\/strong> spot. The French bistro is the creation of <strong>Will Jeffers, Jesse Bardyn <\/strong>and<strong> Jeff Seizer<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/royaleraleigh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And just this morning, the <strong>Raleigh Agenda<\/strong> reported that, after an eight year run, the <strong>Busy Bee Cafe<\/strong> (and its upstairs counterpart, <strong>Mash &amp; Lauter<\/strong>) will close on January 1. But not letting any dust settle, the team behind <strong>Trophy Brewing Company<\/strong> and <strong>State of Beer<\/strong> will reopen the space after a two-week overhaul as <strong>Trophy Chicken and Taproom<\/strong> offering up mostly <strong>Trophy<\/strong> beer (and a few other favorites) and a menu of rotisserie chickens, tacos, and sides that complement both. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"https:\/\/www.raleighagenda.com\/7845\/busy-bee-will-close-january-1-reopen-trophy-chicken-taproom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read the full article here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeping things in downtown Raleigh, <strong>New Raleigh<\/strong> reported that we are just a few weeks away from <strong>Jason Howard<\/strong> opening his newest concept, <strong>The Cardinal<\/strong>, a bar and lounge (featuring <strong>Charlie\u2019s Hot Dogs<\/strong>) at 713 N. West Street. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheCardinalBar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WRAL<\/strong> provided an update on <strong>Tulum<\/strong>, a Mayan-inspired concept going into the space formerly occupied by <strong>San Lorenzo Bistro<\/strong> (and before that <strong>Twisted Mango<\/strong>, and before that <strong>La Volta<\/strong>), that they are looking to open before the end of the year. Owner <strong>Alfredo Lara<\/strong> is one of the partners behind <strong>Mi Cancun<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TulumrestaurantebarComingsoon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with Tulum on their Facebook page here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that <strong>The District<\/strong> (in the space that was formerly <strong>The Borough<\/strong> and then <strong>Hadley\u2019s<\/strong>) in downtown Raleigh, is looking to open in early December according to <strong>Christopher Michael<\/strong> and <strong>Jermaine Landon<\/strong>. <strong>The District<\/strong> plans to serve up Asian fusion cuisine in addition to cocktails, wine and local draft beer. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheDistrictRaleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in downtown Raleigh, <strong>WRAL<\/strong> provided a bit of an update on <strong>Watts and Ward<\/strong> bar, a new craft cocktail bar being constructed in the basement of <strong>Caffe Luna<\/strong>. Look for a winter 2017 opening of the space that will feature three distinct bars and an event space according to owner <strong>Niall Hanley<\/strong>, who also owns <strong>Hibernian Co.<\/strong> and <strong>Raleigh Beer Garden<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over at <strong>North Hills<\/strong>, <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported that <strong>Aladdin\u2019s Eatery<\/strong> will be opening in the spring in the former <strong>Black Cat Caf\u00e9<\/strong> space in the <strong>Lassiter District<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/www.aladdinseatery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Up in North Raleigh\u2019s <strong>Litchford Village<\/strong>, reader <strong>Rebecca Calhoun<\/strong> notified me that <strong>Hoppy Endings<\/strong>, a neighborhood bar and bottleshop, is now open. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hoppyendings\/posts\/336535496716347\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in North Raleigh, reader <strong>Paul Prause<\/strong> tipped me off to the fact that a <strong>Hot Sauce &amp; Ketchup<\/strong> concept is coming to <strong>Peachtree Market<\/strong> at 7440 Six Forks Road. It will feature burgers and wings. No word yet on an exact open date. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/hotsauceandketchup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dana McCall<\/strong> announced via his <strong>GoGoRaleigh<\/strong> twitter feed that Cary\u2019s <strong>Diced Gourmet Salads and Wraps<\/strong> (Kildaire Farm Road in Cary) is opening a second location in Raleigh\u2019s <strong>Oberlin Court<\/strong>. No exact timeline, but their sign is up. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/www.dicedsalads.com\/Home\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Is eight enough? I don\u2019t think so, at least when you are talking about <strong>Rise Biscuits &amp; Donuts<\/strong> locations. <strong>Rise Biscuits and Donuts<\/strong> announced this week that they will open their eighth Triangle-area location in Holly Springs in the <strong>Holly Springs Towne Center<\/strong> in March 2017. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/risebiscuitsdonuts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out Rise here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>This is the biggest restaurant news to hit Chapel Hill in some time, but Durham\u2019s <strong>Guglhupf<\/strong> has plans to open a location in <strong>Eastgate Crossing<\/strong> (apparently in the space formerly occupied by <strong>Evos<\/strong>). No official word from either <strong>Eastgate<\/strong> or <strong>Guglhupf<\/strong>, but several readers sent me photos of the signage in the window. Also no word yet on the \u201cscope\u201d of the operation. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/guglhupf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stay tuned and check out Guglhupf here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>So, apparently we jumped the gun a bit on <strong>The Bullpen<\/strong>, a joint venture of <strong>Bull Durham Beer Company<\/strong> and <strong>Heavenly Buffaloes<\/strong>. <strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that <strong>The Bullpen<\/strong> plans to open in early December in the <strong>Diamond View III<\/strong> building across from the <strong>Durham Bulls Athletic Park<\/strong>. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" =\"http:\/\/www.wral.com\/bull-durham-beer-heavenly-buffaloes-partner-for-beer-garden\/16089647\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out the article on WRAL here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>As noted above, Glenwood South\u2019s <strong>Cafe Helios<\/strong> has closed&#8230;for good this time.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Also on Glenwood South, <strong>Raleigh Agenda<\/strong> reported that Indian restaurant <strong>Indio<\/strong> at 222 Glenwood Ave. has closed.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>In North Raleigh, <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> reported that the <strong>Tilted Kilt<\/strong> has closed after a five-year run.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>And over in Chapel Hill, <strong>Triangle Business Journal<\/strong> announced that <strong>McAlister\u2019s Deli<\/strong> on East Franklin Street closed. They\u2019ve been there since the late 90\u2019s. Word from <strong>Johnny Morris<\/strong> is that he already has someone lined up for that space.
