Impress your co-workers at the water cooler.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Featured Restaurant News<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The trend of food trucks transitioning into brick-and-mortar locations continues with the ladies behind <strong>Pho Nomenal Dumpling<\/strong> truck (which won season six of the <strong>Food Network\u2019s \u201cThe Great Food Truck Race\u201d<\/strong>) announcing that they will bring their concept to <strong>City Market<\/strong> in downtown Raleigh with a restaurant named <strong>MOFU Shoppe<\/strong>. According to the <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> they hope to open by May, if not sooner. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mofushoppe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out their website here<\/a><\/span><\/strong> and keep up with their progress <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mofushoppe\" target=\"_blank\">on their Facebook page here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Wake County Restaurant News<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An update on the former <strong>Helio\u2019s<\/strong> spot on Glenwood South. The <strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> reported this week that the new spot (brought to us by the <strong>Ibarra<\/strong> brothers from <strong>Jose &amp; Sons<\/strong>, among others) will be called<strong> The Cortez Restaurant<\/strong>, according to permits filed. No additional information is available at this time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> also reported that <strong>Sweetheart Treats<\/strong>, a local purveyor of delectable desserts, will soon be opening its doors at the <strong>Falls River Shopping Center<\/strong> on 10930 Raven Ridge Road in North Raleigh. It is possible they will be open before the end of the month. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sweethearttreats15\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with them on Facebook here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And finally in Raleigh, <strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> also reported that permits for the first Raleigh location of the national BBQ chain <strong>City Barbeque<\/strong> were issued December 30 for a spot at the new <strong>Olive Park Shopping Center<\/strong>, where work is also underway for Raleigh\u2019s second <strong>Bad Daddy\u2019s<\/strong> burger joint. The rest of the story is that longtime competitive barbecue cook <strong>Jerry Stephenson Jr.<\/strong> is opening <strong>The Redneck BBQ Lab<\/strong> at 11 a.m. on January 16 in Benson according to the <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong>. The restaurant is located to the left of the BP gas station at exit 319 off Interstate 40. According to the <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong>, chef <strong>Adam Rose<\/strong> hopes to open his lunch-only restaurant, <strong>Luncheonette<\/strong>, by the end of the week in Chapel Hill\u2019s <strong>Europa Center<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll recognize <strong>Rose<\/strong> from his stints at <strong>Il Palio at the Siena Hotel<\/strong>, <strong>Black House at Straw Valley<\/strong>, and Raleigh&#8217;s <strong>H Street Kitchen<\/strong>. He will be in the same space that was home to <strong>Paul Covington&#8217;s Crook\u2019s Atrium Cafe and Southern Comfort Cafe<\/strong>. You can learn more about <strong>Rose<\/strong> and some of his other projects <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arosehospitality.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Chapel Hill, the <strong>Daily Tar Heel<\/strong> reported that <strong>Might as Well Bar and Grill<\/strong>, a popular spot for college students in Wilmington, is opening a new location on West Franklin Street in the former <strong>Fitzgerald\u2019s<\/strong> spot and is hoping to open around <strong>January 22<\/strong> (if permitting permits). <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mightaswellbarandgrill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get a sneak peek at them here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported this week that Durham&#8217;s <strong>Phoebe Lawless<\/strong>, owner of <strong>Scratch Bakery<\/strong>, is opening <strong>The Lakewood<\/strong>, a full-service restaurant and bar in Durham, this spring. It will be a 90-seat restaurant and bar with a rooftop terrace serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch at 2022 Chapel Hill Road. Additionally, she will be opening a second <strong>Scratch Bakery Cafe<\/strong> in the same location. Look for updates about The Lakewood on <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/The-Lakewood-916213845182585\/\" target=\"_blank\">their Facebook page here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Pie Hole<\/strong>, the Los Angeles based American pie and coffee shop, will be expanding to North Carolina in 2017, bringing its made-from- scratch sweet and savory pies to the East Coast. The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported that the initial location will likely be in Durham, although it won\u2019t be officially announced for a few more weeks. Look for them to open this summer. Two additional Triangle-area locations are planned. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thepieholela.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out The Pie Hole here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Got word that the <strong>Stonehenge Tavern<\/strong> on Creedmoor Road in Raleigh closed at year&#8217;s end. It was in the former <strong>Carolina Wing Company<\/strong> space at 7504 Creedmoor Road. They had just opened this past February.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Got word from reader <strong>Laura A.<\/strong> that <strong>Wild Wing Cafe<\/strong> in Cary in the <strong>Centrum at Crossroads<\/strong> (Walnut Street) has closed.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div><strong>The Daily Tar Heel<\/strong> reported this week that <strong>Jasmin Mediterranean Bistro<\/strong>, in the middle of downtown Chapel Hill, has closed.
