This place is simply stunning &#8211; in look, feel, service and menu. Located at 500 Glenwood Avenue (first two floors of the <strong>Carolina Ale House<\/strong> building), the Mediterranean-style dining experience begins next <strong>Monday, January 23rd<\/strong> when you\u2019ll be able to enjoy a blend of Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Moroccan, Spanish, and other coastal influences. And the drink menu? Off the charts! In addition to the amazingly delicious cocktails, <strong>Vidrio<\/strong> also offers more than 50 wines on tap and another 300 by the bottle. Get this spot in your rotation as soon as possible! <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vidrioraleigh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that the folks behind <strong>Sushi Nine<\/strong> (that burned nearly to the ground in January, 2016) held a groundbreaking ceremony this week announcing the rebuilding of the popular eatery in its former location at 3812 Western Boulevard. No exact timeline was released. See renderings of the rebuild and keep up with their progress <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Sushi-Nine-117108648350160\/\" target=\"_blank\">on their Facebook page here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Your weekend brunch options just got a lot more interesting. The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported this week that both <strong>Poole\u2019s<\/strong> and <strong>Standard Foods<\/strong> would begin offering weekend brunch service. Prompted by the closing of <strong>Ashley Christensen\u2019s Joule<\/strong> (being replaced by <strong>St. Roch Oyster + Bar<\/strong>), <strong>Poole\u2019s<\/strong> will begin this spring, and will feature many of the dishes from <strong>Joule<\/strong>. <strong>Standard<\/strong> will begin their brunch service this Sunday (January 22). Check out <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/ac-restaurants.com\/pooles\/\" target=\"_blank\">Poole&#8217;s here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/standard-foods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Standard Foods here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sean O\u2019Neill<\/strong> informed me last week that the building permit for the next\/second location of <strong>Chronic Tacos Mexican Grill<\/strong> in the Triangle has been issued. They expect to open in late March or early April at 1000 Forrestville Road in Wake Forest. <strong>Chronic\u2019s<\/strong> other Triangle location is in Chapel Hill\u2019s <strong>Meadowmont<\/strong> development. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chronictacos.com\/chapel-hill\" target=\"_blank\">Check out Chronic Tacos here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> reported this week that the popular North Raleigh brunch spot <strong>Brigs Restaurant<\/strong> in <strong>Brennan Station<\/strong> on Creedmoor Road should be reopening its doors very soon, as permits to repair damage caused by an electrical fire earlier this month were issued last week. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Brigs.Raleigh\" target=\"_blank\">Follow their Facebook page<\/a><\/strong><\/span> here to keep up with their reopening date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Cary, got word that <strong>Bottle Dog Bites &amp; Brews<\/strong> will hold their grand opening this weekend (<strong>January 20-22<\/strong>). It is owned by the folks behind <strong>Woody\u2019s<\/strong>, a longtime popular sports bar with locations in Cary and Raleigh and is located on Chapel Hill Road, just a few doors down from the Cary location of <strong>Woody\u2019s<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/bottledogcary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out their website<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to get all the details on the grand opening celebration lasting all weekend!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Cary (and soon to be in Raleigh), got word from reader <strong>Laura A.<\/strong> that <strong>Kader\u2019s French Bakery<\/strong> has closed in <strong>Cary Towne Center<\/strong>. That is the bad news, especially after just 7 months there. But word is that they are relocating to 1213 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. Thanks!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On Chapel Hill\u2019s Franklin Street, we got word from reader <strong>Thomas Viemont<\/strong> that the \u201cexpress\u201d version of Durham\u2019s <strong>Cuban Revolution<\/strong> (nicknamed <strong>The Cube<\/strong>) has opened at the spot of the former <strong>Mina\u2019s Grill<\/strong> at 401 W. Franklin Street (right next to <strong>The Franklin Hotel<\/strong>). <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cubanrevolutionexpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Last week we told you about the closing of <strong>Jasmin Mediterranean Bistro<\/strong> at the corner of Franklin Street and Columbia Street. This week <strong>The Daily Tar Heel<\/strong> reported that that spot will be filled by <strong>Lotsa Stone Fired Pizza<\/strong> (just when you thought Franklin Street already had &#8220;lotsa&#8221; pizza joints). This will be the chain\u2019s sixth location in the U.S. No word yet on a timeline. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/lotsa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get familiar with them here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Chapel Hill, <strong>Mixed<\/strong>, a casual Korean bistro located at 1404 E. Franklin Street (that is at the bottom of the hill next to <strong>Caribou Coffee<\/strong>) has closed. That is the bad news (I really liked that place &#8211; fresh and made to order). But the <strong>Captain Poncho<\/strong> empire has expanded into that space and they are already open! What began as a truck, then adding a brick and mortar in Chapel Hill&#8217;s <strong>Southern Village<\/strong>, now has <strong>Captain Poncho&#8217;s Tacqueria<\/strong> at 1404 E. It was near the intersection of E. Franklin and Estes Drive (see above to find out what is now in that space).<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Got word from reader <strong>Paul Prause<\/strong> that <strong>On The Border Mexican Grill and Cantina<\/strong> at <strong>Plantation Point<\/strong> (intersection of US1 and 540) has closed.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Food Trucks<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Who else out there is missing their favorite food trucks? Might be the worst part of winter. But this weekend (Sunday afternoon) is the <strong>Winter Weekend<\/strong> for the <strong>Durham Central Park Food Truck Rodeo<\/strong> featuring over 50 of your favorite food trucks! They will all be at the park (501 Foster Street) in downtown Durham from noon until 4 p.m. this <strong>Sunday, January 22<\/strong> waiting to give you your winter fix of food truck goodness. Along with <strong>WXDU<\/strong> DJs spinning funky tunes and college rock, they\u2019ll also have inflatables for the kids to jump in from Bull City Inflatables! <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/durhamcentralpark.org\/events\/food-truck-rodeo-info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out the website here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for a list of all the trucks and other details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>I had the pleasure to sit down yesterday with <strong>Deb Keller<\/strong> with <strong>Cousins Maine Lobster<\/strong> food truck (if you haven\u2019t met her, you should &#8211; she\u2019s great!). Anyway, big news! Can you say double your lobster pleasure?!? Yes, they have just begun the process of securing a <strong>second truck<\/strong> for the Triangle (that\u2019s what happens when your first truck is basically all booked up)! Look for truck two later this spring, early summer. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cousinsmainelobster.com\/raleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with their truck here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Events<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting this Monday! <strong>January 23-29<\/strong> marks the 10-year anniversary edition of <strong>Triangle Restaurant Week<\/strong>, a week-long celebration of culinary excellence designed to incorporate the premier Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding area restaurants. Dine at participating restaurants which offer a special menus and deals throughout the week. No advance tickets necessary. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/trirestaurantweek.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visit their website<\/a><\/span><\/strong> to see which restaurants are taking part this year!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Tickets are now on sale for the annual <strong>Triangle Wine Experience<\/strong>, which offers dinners, wine tastings and more from Feb. 2-4. At 7 p.m. <strong>Feb. 2<\/strong>, there are winemaker dinners at restaurants throughout the Triangle. Many are sold out but check the website for what is still available. Cost: $150-$165. At 5 p.m. Feb. 4, the grand gala with live and silent auctions. The location of the gala is still to be determined. Cost: $225-$250. Look for dishes featuring pickling, smoking, curing and more, alongside sustainably caught North Carolina seafood from <strong>Locals Seafood<\/strong>.
