Quite honestly, it should be a national holiday. Sadly, it isn\u2019t. Fortunately the <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> has pulled together a roundup of deals at Triangle doughnut shops. Be prepared for crowds. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/living\/food-drink\/mouthful-blog\/article153855219.html\">Here&#8217;s the list<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Closures, improvements and updates seem to be the \u201cnorm\u201d along Raleigh\u2019s Hillsborough Street. So it is with <strong>H-Street Kitchen<\/strong> as they recently closed for the summer allowing for them to \u201cexecute some changes.\u201d They were short on details, but plan to re-open when the students return in the fall. This will be the first North Carolina location for the chain which has locations all over Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Florida. <strong>Glory Days<\/strong> is a sports themed American Grill. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glorydaysgrill.com\/locations\/north-carolina\/apex\/\">Get familiar with them here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The folks over at <strong>Bites of Bull City<\/strong> notified us that acclaimed baker and pastry chef <strong>Phoebe Lawless<\/strong> opened her first full-service restaurant and bar, <strong>The Lakewood<\/strong>, on May 25. It is located in the former Davis Baking Co. building on Chapel Hill Road in the Tuscaloosa-Lakewood neighborhood. But she\u2019s not slowing down. Next up, the second location of <strong>Scratch Bakery<\/strong> sometime in early July. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/thelakewooddurham.com\/\">Check out The Lakewood here<\/a><\/b><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/piefantasy.com\/\">the second location of Scratch here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported that the<strong> Glass Jug bottle shop<\/strong> will become the <strong>Glass Jug Beer Lab<\/strong> this fall, with an on-site brewery, outdoor beer garden and expanded event space.The Glass Jug, which opened in September 2014 in <strong>Greenwood Commons<\/strong> shopping center on N.C. 55, will reopen in a new space a few doors down. The new 2,940-square foot space has a grassy backyard that will be used for outdoor seating and food trucks. Owners <strong>Katy <\/strong>and<strong> Chris Creech<\/strong> said they hope to open by September. They will close for a few weeks in late summer to accommodate the move, but a date hasn\u2019t been set. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/glass-jug.com\/\">Check them out here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Durham, <strong>Namu Restaurant and Coffee Bar<\/strong>, the collaborative effort between <strong>Bulkogi Truck<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Bo&#8217;s Kitchen<\/strong>, is getting close to opening at 5420 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. Facebook pictures this week showed finishing touches on the interior. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Namu-Durham-713409472154505\/\">Keep up with the latest on their Facebook page here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We first told you about this back in October, but reader <strong>Jimmy Poole<\/strong> brought it to our attention that <strong>Built Custom Burger<\/strong> has opened in the food court at the <strong>Streets at Southpoint mall<\/strong>. The west-coast chain has another location under construction in <strong>Alston Place<\/strong> on Highway 55 in Cary. It&#8217;s like a <strong>Chipotle<\/strong>-type burger restaurant where you go down the line and order what you want for toppings as they cook the burger. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.builtcustomburgers.com\/\">Check them out here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a little bit more room to enjoy a great cup of coffee in Chapel Hill thanks to the recent expansion of <strong>Coco Bean<\/strong> located at <strong>East 54<\/strong> near <strong>Tobacco Road Cafe<\/strong>. The signs are up, but no word on an opening date. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marcos.com\/\">Check out Marco&#8217;s here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Renee Luongo<\/strong> shared with us that <strong>NY Pizza<\/strong> in North Raleigh\u2019s <strong>Falls Village<\/strong> shopping center closed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Food Trucks<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The big food truck news this week comes from <strong>Mattie Beason<\/strong> (think <strong>Mattie B\u2019s<\/strong> and <strong>Black Twig Cider House<\/strong>) and his business partners who are building a \u201cbarn\u201d called <strong>County Fare<\/strong> at 1920 Chapel Hill Road. The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> noted that the concept will feature four food trucks parked next to the 150-seat barn with 200 additional outdoor seats. Basically a daily mini-food-truck rodeo. Beer, wine and cider, along with kid-friendly grub, will also be served. \u00a0Look for the project to be completed sometime between mid-fall and the end of the year. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.countyfaredurham.com\/\">Get all the details here<\/a><\/b><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There will be a food truck rodeo over at <strong>Five Points<\/strong> in Raleigh to raise money for the new <strong>Kiwanis Park<\/strong>. It will take place on<strong> June 4th<\/strong> at Kiwanis Park (2525 Noble Road).
