Located at 14 W. Martin Street in downtown Raleigh, the <strong>Garland<\/strong> has been working since the end of October on completing the transformation from window service to dining room service. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/garlandrestaurant\" target=\"_blank\" shape=\"rect\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported this morning that an American cuisine restaurant called <strong>The Oakz<\/strong> is coming to the 510 Glenwood South building in downtown Raleigh in mid-January. <strong>Ira Freedman<\/strong> and his daughter, <strong>Jaclyn Starritt<\/strong>, are behind the venture. The menu will have a variety of American dishes, including brick chicken, jambalaya pasta, shrimp and grits and bison burgers, along with stuffed pork and salmon. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/THEOAKZ\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We are still awaiting the opening of the much-anticipated <strong>Gringo A Go-Go<\/strong> over on Person Street. After rumors swirled that it might have opened this past weekend, we still wait on a few last minute details. Any day now&#8230; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/gringoagogonc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Keep up with the latest here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Our friends over at <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/newraleigh\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">New Raleigh<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> tweeted out this week that <strong>Indian Cuisine Kabab and Curry<\/strong> will replace <strong>Klara&#8217;s<\/strong> (old <strong>Frazier&#8217;s<\/strong> space) on Hillsborough Street. No other details are available at this point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you were a fan of the <strong>Bavarian Brathaus<\/strong> over in Durham, you will be glad to know they will be opening a new German restaurant over in Cary called the <strong>German Grille<\/strong>. It will be located at 243 Grande Heights Dr. in the <strong>Harrison Pointe Shopping Center<\/strong> where the <strong>Great Mongolian Grill<\/strong> used to be. No final open date yet. Thanks to my friend <strong>Wendy Ransbury<\/strong> for this tip!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>So the <strong>Caribou<\/strong> location over in Raleigh on Duraleigh Road (<strong>Olde Raleigh Shopping Center<\/strong>) is re-opening next week (<strong>December 20<\/strong>) and will now be a combined <strong>Bruegger&#8217;s Bagels <\/strong>and<strong> Caribou Coffee<\/strong> spot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that <strong>Kiwi Caf\u00e9 and Smoothies<\/strong> opened in the Wakefield area of north Raleigh. Offering breakfast and lunch along with their coffee, smoothies and fresh squeezed juices, <strong>Kiwi<\/strong> is located in a strip near <strong>Bruno&#8217;s<\/strong> restaurant at 11211 Galleria Avenue. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kiwicafeandsmoothies.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>North Hills<\/strong> area continues to roll out new dining options. This week <strong>WRAL<\/strong> reported that <strong>Another Broken Egg<\/strong>, with locations in Durham &amp; Morrisville, will open near the Hyatt House area early next year. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anotherbrokenegg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham County Restaurant News\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Two Durham powerhouses are joining forces to bring Japanese cuisine and beverages to the downtown Durham area in the summer of 2014. <strong>Billy and Kelli Cotter<\/strong> from <strong>Toast<\/strong> along with <strong>Nick Hawthorne-Johnson and Rochelle Johnson<\/strong> from <strong>The Cookery<\/strong> will open <strong>Dashi<\/strong>, serving lunch, dinner and late night with a menu that will center on ramen noodle bowls and small plates. You can read a little more about it on <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-Cookery\/130855276983619\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Cookery&#8217;s Facebook page here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Up in Hillsborough, downtown&#8217;s <strong>Gulf Rim Caf\u00e9<\/strong> will close in January and will reopen the third week of January under the new name of <strong>La Place Louisiana Cookery<\/strong>. <strong>The Wooden Nickel&#8217;s Matt Fox<\/strong> and <strong>Gulf Rim Caf\u00e9&#8217;s Joe Tullos<\/strong> are teaming up on the new venture. They will continue to serve Louisiana and regional cuisine, and <strong>Tullos<\/strong>, who comes from La Place, La., also plans to add charcuterie and house-made sausages to the menu. In the meantime, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Gulf-Rim-Cafe\/155980941790?ref=ts\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">pay a visit to Gulf Rim Cafe<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Chapel Hill, <strong>Andrea Reusing<\/strong> announced the opening of the <strong>Lantern<\/strong> restaurant&#8217;s <strong>Lantern Table<\/strong> &#8212; a community kitchen \/ private party space adjacent to the restaurant that offers cooking classes as well as being available for private functions. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/lanternrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Learn more here<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A little further down Franklin Street, it looks like the former location of <strong>Pepper&#8217;s Pizza<\/strong> (may it rest in peace&#8230;amen) will have a new occupant come early 2014 according to the <strong>Daily Tar Heel<\/strong>. <strong>Sup Dogs<\/strong>, a staple on ECU&#8217;s campus, will bring their 23 exotic Sup Dogs, 15 specialty Sup Burgers and a full bar stocked with draft and bottled beer, liquor and signature drinks to Chapel Hill&#8217;s Franklin Street. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/supdogs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WRAL<\/strong> suggested that <strong>Bull City Burger and Brewery&#8217;s<\/strong> sister-restaurant <strong>Pompieri Pizza<\/strong> might open before year&#8217;s end. <strong>Pompieri<\/strong>, which will be located in the historic Fire Station # 1 across from Durham&#8217;s city hall on Mangum Street, will serve wood-fired pizzas. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pompieripizza.com\/Pompieri_Pizza\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Check them out here<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0None!
