Impress your co-workers at the water cooler.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Featured Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0It looks like it is a win-win for fans of <strong>Il Palio<\/strong> restaurant in Chapel Hill\u2019s <strong>Siena Hotel<\/strong>. Current chef <strong>Teddy Diggs<\/strong> will leave at the end of the month to head out on his own, but will stay here locally to open <strong>Coronato<\/strong>, a Roman-style pizza concept that will open in early 2019. In the meantime, a series of pop-up dinners are in the works. And far as his \u201creplacement\u201d the news couldn\u2019t have been any better as it was announced that chef <strong>Adam Rose<\/strong> will return on July 1. Locals will remember <strong>Rose<\/strong> ran the kitchen at <strong>Il Palio<\/strong> from 2007 until 2013. He will remain an investor with <strong>Luncheonette<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilpalio.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Check out Il Palio here<\/b><\/span><\/a>. Thanks to <strong>Matt Clements<\/strong> for the initial heads up on this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The folks behind the renovation of the 707 and 713 N. West St. in Raleigh, which houses <strong>The Cardinal<\/strong>, a bar that is known for its upscale hot dogs, have just completed the renovation of the warehouse at 911 N. West St. Two new restaurants have been lined up for that building and will likely open next spring. They are a diner called the <strong>Rainbow Luncheonette<\/strong> from T<strong>he Cardinal<\/strong> owners <strong>Jason Howard<\/strong> and <strong>Dan Murphy<\/strong>, and <strong>Layered Croissant<\/strong>, a bakeshop from husband and wife <strong>Mark <\/strong>and<strong> Kawsar Chavez<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheCardinalBar\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Visit The Cardinal&#8217;s Facebook page here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And if that is not enough going on for <strong>Jason Howard<\/strong> and<strong> Dan Murphy<\/strong>, the <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> reported this week that the <strong>Atlantic Lounge<\/strong> will open this summer below <strong>Crawford and Son<\/strong> restaurant at 620 North Person Street. This subterranean modern speakeasy will be accessible only to key-carrying members, with first dibs going to residents of the surrounding <strong>Oakwood<\/strong> neighborhood in Raleigh. Stay tuned for more details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in downtown Raleigh, <strong>John Huisman<\/strong>, aka <a href=\"https:\/\/triangleexplorer.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Triangle Explorer<\/b><\/span><\/a>, was the first to notify us that the much anticipated <strong>Kaiju Bowl and Bao<\/strong> has set an open date of <strong>July 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>. They will be located on Davie Street in the former <strong>Dickey\u2019s Barbecue<\/strong> spot. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaijubnb.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Visit their website here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Speaking of opening dates, the highly anticipated <strong>Morgan Street Food Hall<\/strong> announced last week that it will open its doors on <strong>July 23<\/strong>. To date, the restaurants confirmed include:\u00a0<strong>Bella\u2019s Wood Fired Pizza &amp; Tapas, Boba Brew, Carroll\u2019s Kitchen, Cocoa Forte, Cousins Maine Lobster, Cow Bar, Curry in a Hurry, Hook &amp; Cleaver, Iyla\u2019s Southern Kitchen, Makus Empanadas, Mama Bird\u2019s Cookies + Cream, MKG Kitchen, Morgan Street Java &amp; Creperie, Oak City Fish &amp; Chips, Raleigh Raw, Raleigh Rolls, Sassool, The Bowls, The Broth, <\/strong>and<strong> Wicked Taco<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.morganfoodhall.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Get all the details here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And with the opening this week of the new YMCA on Raleigh\u2019s Fayetteville Street (227 Fayetteville Street) comes the opening of the third location of <strong>Benelux Coffee<\/strong>. They have another YMCA location within the Alexander Family YMCA on Hillsborough Street and the store location in <strong>Cameron Village<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/beneluxcoffee.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Check out Benelux here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Over in Cary, <strong>Michael DePersia<\/strong> of <strong>National Restaurant Properties<\/strong> notified me that a concept called <strong>CoreLife Eatery<\/strong>, which opened their first location in Syracuse, is coming to the former <strong>Dickie\u2019s BBQ<\/strong> space in <strong>Cary Crossroads<\/strong>. This will be the first venture into the Triangle for the national chain. No word yet on a timeline, but you can <a href=\"http:\/\/corelifeeatery.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>check them out here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Also in Cary, reader <strong>Wesley Mays<\/strong> notified us that <strong>Anjappar Indian Restaurant<\/strong> is coming soon to <strong>Stone Creek Village<\/strong> in the former <strong>Chubby&#8217;s Tacos\/Guacamaya<\/strong> spot. They are currently doing construction inside. They have a location in Raleigh and will soon add a third location at <strong>McNeil Point<\/strong> in Wake County. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseofhopsnc.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Get familiar with House of Hops here<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Closings<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Sad to report that two restaurants I worked closely with over at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trianglefoodguy.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Triangle Food Guy<\/b><\/span><\/a> have sold and are now closed. <strong>Giardino Gourmet Salads<\/strong> owner <strong>Mario Diaz<\/strong> sold his location and has returned to Florida (look for <strong>Terra Bonum Salad Caf\u00e9<\/strong> to open in that space). And <strong>Steve and Tracey Drotts<\/strong> sold their downtown Raleigh <strong>Z Pizza<\/strong> location and have moved to New Hampshire. Look for an Italian\/pizza concept to open there. Will miss all of them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Food Trucks<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Knightdale Food Truck Thursdays<\/strong> went back into full swing this month. The first two events (featuring <strong>Charlie Deal<\/strong> on March 12 and <strong>Scott Howell<\/strong> on May 14) <em>sold out<\/em>. And if last year is any indication, the next two dinners will sell out quickly. The <strong>July 9th<\/strong> event features <strong>Phoebe Lawless<\/strong> (<strong>The Lakewood<\/strong> and <strong>Scratch<\/strong>) and the <strong>September 10<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> event features <strong>Gocciolina&#8217;s Aaron Benjamin<\/strong>. Each night the chef will serve three or more courses at a ticketed dinner with the proceeds benefiting <strong>Families Moving Forward<\/strong>.
