Got word from reader <strong>Jordan Kab<\/strong> that <strong>East Village Grill<\/strong> will be closing after Super Bowl Sunday on <strong>February 3<\/strong> as the land between Daisy Street and Dixie Trail will be redeveloped into an apartment complex. That\u2019s the bad news for <strong>EVG<\/strong> fans. The good news is they will reopen in the brand new space on the ground floor when it opens in 2020. Get there before February 3rd and then <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/eastvillagegrillandbar\/\" target=\"_blank\">keep up with them during the transition on their Facebook page here<\/a>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also along Hillsborough Street, noticed in <strong>Ashton Mae Smith\u2019s<\/strong> newsletter that <strong>Sushi Mon<\/strong> has opened at 105 Friendly Drive offering up sushi and Japanese small plates. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Sushi-Mon-329870230935363\/\">Get to know them on Facebook here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over at <strong>North Hills<\/strong> it was announced this week that <strong>Mason\u2019s Famous Lobster Rolls<\/strong>, a seafood restaurant offering Maine lobster and shrimp rolls, will be opening in the <strong>Main District at North Hills<\/strong>. Located between <strong>Bartaco<\/strong> and the <strong>Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel<\/strong>, the restaurant is projected to open in 2019. This will be their first restaurant in North Carolina but they have other locations in Maryland, South Carolina, Delaware and Virginia. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/masonslobster.com\/\">Get to know them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Got word via a Facebook chat group that <strong>Boondini\u2019s<\/strong> at <strong>Celebrations at Six Forks<\/strong> is closing that location before the end of the year. Apparently they are unable to renew their lease and Billy has decided to retire. Unless you know someone that is willing to take over. <strong>Boondini\u2019s<\/strong> began in Buies Creek before moving to Tryon Hills and eventually to its current location on Six Forks Road in 1986. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.boondinis.com\/\">Pay Boondini&#8217;s a visit here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And this is terrible news. Just last Friday, after months of wondering when they would ever open, <strong>Mami\u2019s<\/strong> opened on Glenwood Avenue on the way to the airport near the intersection with Duraleigh. That\u2019s the good news. The bad news is the very next day they suffered an electrical fire that leaves it closed indefinitely. Keep up with any news on their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/maminoras\/\">Facebook page here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And in other \u201cGlenwood\u201d news, a reader shared with us that the <strong>Sawasdee Thai<\/strong> restaurant has been converted into the <strong>Cajun Crab House<\/strong>. The restaurant is under the same ownership and will keep a few popular dishes from the <strong>Sawasdee<\/strong> menu but they now come with seafood options only and most other dishes will be served at <strong>Tamarind Asian Fusion Bistro<\/strong>, which is their sister restaurant in <strong>Brier Creek Commons<\/strong>. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cajuncrabhousenc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out the Cajun Crab House here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The folks over at <strong>ITB Insider<\/strong> reported this week that <strong>The Melting Pot<\/strong> on Wake Forest Road &nbsp;is about to expand into the vacant space in the rear of the building that was once an Enterprise Rent-a-Car. No exact word on the timeline. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meltingpot.com\/raleigh-nc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Got word this week that <strong>Coleen Speaks<\/strong> is beginning brunch service at her <strong>Hummingbird<\/strong> restaurant on Whitaker Mill Road this weekend. Brunch service will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also, be on the lookout for new additions to the regular breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, including large plates in the evening. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/hummingbirdraleigh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out Hummingbird here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Also in Raleigh, we are getting closer to the opening of the <strong>Mellow Mushroom<\/strong> at <strong>Brier Creek<\/strong> according to my friend <strong>Neha Shah<\/strong>. It is located at 9600 Brier Creek Parkway across from the &nbsp;Duke Medical Center and Walgreens complex. They are in the middle of their job fair, so we are getting closer! <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MellowMushroomBrierCreek\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with their announcements on their Facebook page here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Cary, <strong>Hugh Autry<\/strong> brought it to my attention that <strong>Havana Grill<\/strong> on Chatham Street has closed and been \u201creplaced\u201d by a concept called <strong>Tacos Estilo Hidalgo #3<\/strong>. I haven\u2019t had a chance to go by yet, but a <strong>Yelp<\/strong> posting noted that the <strong>Havana Grill<\/strong> menu is still posted on the wall inside, so might be more of a rebranding. Stop by and check it out. The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/tacos-estilo-cary?osq=Tacos+estila\" target=\"_blank\">Yelp page<\/a> is all we\u2019ve been able to find online.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>T<\/strong><strong>he Daily Tar Heel<\/strong> reported over in Chapel Hill that there is a new sign in the window at the closed <strong>Asia Cafe<\/strong> indicating that <strong>Curry Point Express<\/strong>, an Indian fast food restaurant located in Durham, have bought the establishment.
