The <strong>10th anniversary edition<\/strong> of <strong>Terra Vita Food &amp; Drink Festival<\/strong> will take place in Chapel Hill <strong>October 16 &#8211; 19, 2019<\/strong>. Tickets <strong>go on sale July 11<\/strong>, so put that date on your calendar to snap up the quick sell-outs! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terravitafest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get all the details here<\/a>. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Wake County Restaurant News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Downtown Raleigh\u2019s <strong>Transfer Co. Food Hall<\/strong> announced two more tenants this week. <strong>Alimentari at Left Bank<\/strong> will serve Italian classics, flatbreads and freshly-made pasta by the pound. It will also feature downtown Raleigh&#8217;s first whole-animal butchery and charcuterie shop, which will source its animals from local farms in Saxaphaw and Snow Camp. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transfercofoodhall.com\/vendors\/alimentari-at-left-bank\" target=\"_blank\">Get to know them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The second announcement this week was <strong>Mama Crow&#8217;s<\/strong>, which will feature fresh, locally-sourced salads, burgers, house-made cheeses and hand-cut fries. These two additions join the diverse mix of Transfer&#8217;s existing food booths, which include <strong>Longleaf Swine, Bul Box, Locals Seafood, Burial Beer Co., Benchwarmer Bagels, Che Empanadas, Chhote&#8217;s, Captain Cookie and The Milkman <\/strong>and<strong> Dank Burrito<\/strong>. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transfercofoodhall.com\/vendors\/mama-crows\" target=\"_blank\">Check out Mama Crow here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Additional announcements out of <strong>Transfer Co. Food Hall<\/strong> this week included expanded hours &#8211; &nbsp;open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It also announced the addition of new coworking and event spaces. A rentable, 3,000 sq. ft. ballroom can be used for private events but will also provide space for community events like concerts and pop-up markets. The final addition will be a 50-desk coworking space for startups and entrepreneurs to meet and collaborate. <strong>Transfer Co. Food Hall<\/strong> is located at 500 E. It occupies the former <strong>Fuji Express<\/strong> location and serves up Japanese and Asian cuisine. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jjcafeapex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get familiar with them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Durham, Orange &amp; Chatham Restaurant News<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The <strong>News &amp; Observer<\/strong> shared the news this week that chef <strong>Sidney Coves<\/strong> has opened (opening today, <strong>May 3<\/strong>) the second location of his <strong>True Flavors Diner<\/strong> at 2022 Chapel Hill Road, taking over the former <strong>Lakewood<\/strong> restaurant space and <strong>Scratch Baking<\/strong> spots. The original location is also in Durham, just outside of RTP at 5410 Highway 55. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/trueflavorsnc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Got word this week that <strong>Stem Ciders<\/strong> opened<strong> The Northern Spy<\/strong>, a bar, restaurant and bottle shop featuring the largest variety of cider in the Southeast. <strong>The Northern Spy<\/strong> features cider, beer, wine, and cocktails paired with a locally sourced, scratch-made food menu, offering \u2018American Fare with a Southern Twist\u2019. It is located at 2812 Erwin Road in Durham, North Carolina in the space formerly occupied by <strong>Mattie Beason\u2019s Black Twig Cider House<\/strong>. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/northernspync.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get to know them here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Over in Durham and Chapel Hill, <strong>WRAL<\/strong> is reporting that as of <strong>May 1<\/strong>, the Durham location of the <strong>Bagel Bar<\/strong> has closed indefinitely and that the Chapel Hill location is for sale. Owner <strong>Jonathan Collins<\/strong> indicated the name is for sale as well. Hopefully someone will come along and keep things going. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/bagelbarbagels.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Keep up with them as it unfolds. <\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Chapel Hill, reader <strong>Glenn Gillen<\/strong> noted that <strong>WCHL<\/strong> radio and its website <strong>Chapelboro.com<\/strong> were reporting that<strong> Sutton&#8217;s<\/strong> has opened a second Chapel Hill location. &nbsp;It&#8217;s in the remodeled atrium at the <strong>Europa Center<\/strong>. <strong>Sutton\u2019s<\/strong> also has a location in Graham. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.suttonsdrugstore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Down in Hillsborough, the <strong>News &amp; Oberver\u2019s Drew Jackson<\/strong> reported that <strong>James Pharmacy<\/strong>, which replaced <strong>LaPlace Louisiana Cookery<\/strong> after a five-year run, opened this week. The new concept serves fresh North Carolina seafood and kept<strong> LaPlace\u2019s<\/strong> creative beverage program, the popular Sunday brunches, and their famous Bloody Mary menu. Also improved outdoor seating and an expanded beer and wine selection. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jamespharmacyNC\" target=\"_blank\">Check them out on Facebook here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On a sad note, our friends over at <strong>Pulcinella\u2019s<\/strong> in Durham shared the news that <strong>Salvatore &#8220;Rino&#8221; Fevola<\/strong>, principal partner in <strong>Pulcinella&#8217;s<\/strong> in Durham, passed away on Tuesday. <strong>Rino<\/strong> brought smiles and touched hearts to all who knew him. Our prayers are with his family and everyone that knew and loved him. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pulcinellasitalianrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">See Pulcinella&#8217;s here<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>And down in Kinston, friend and on-air radio extraordinaire <strong>Kitty Kinnin<\/strong> shared this week that <strong>Chef &amp; The Farmer\u2019s Vivian Howard<\/strong> (just in time for Mother\u2019s Day) is launching <strong>Handy &amp; Hot<\/strong>, a new small-batch, mail order bake shop from their ovens in Kinston. There is still time to get by! <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Food Trucks&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;Thanks to a note from <strong>Mark Ginsberg<\/strong>, I learned that the<strong> Knightdale Food Truck Thursdays<\/strong> is getting ready to kick back up for the season. The $30 ticket will entitle you to all-you-can-eat Gulf shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn-on-the-cob and banana pudding. The event features old-fashioned contests (like pie eating!), artists, beer, food trucks (10) and live bands on multiple stages.
